EdTech: Razorpay UPI rollout for an Indian online school

An online school launched on Razorpay with UPI, cards, and netbanking โ€” and stopped losing 30% of signups to a US-only checkout.

The challenge

The platform was on Stripe, which does not support local Indian payment methods. About 30% of would-be paying students dropped off because their UPI app or netbanking option was not available at checkout.

The approach

We integrated Razorpay Standard Checkout alongside the existing Stripe flow, with auto-routing based on the student's country. UPI, Paytm, PhonePe, and netbanking became first-class options. Webhooks for both gateways unified into a single payment-events table.

The result

Indian-market signup completion climbed from 38% to 71%. The accounting team gets one CSV per day instead of reconciling two separate dashboards.
